Director, Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Assam, Dispur has Invited Applications from the retired journalists who worked in Assam for awarding Pension under the "Assam Pension Scheme for Journalists" for the year 2021-22.


About DIPR Assam "Assam Pension Scheme for Journalists"

The Assam Pension Scheme for Journalists was first introduced in January, 2016. This scheme is for the welfare of senior journalists on their retirement at the age of 60. The applicant is required to undergo superannuation as a journalist and the scheme is valid throughout his lifetime. An amount of Rs. 8000 per month will be provided as pension to the retired journalists who served in Assam for at least 20 years. This pension will be taken as a token of recognition of their contribution to journalism during their service.

An amount of Rs. 20 Lakhs have been allocated in the budget for the financial year 2017-18. As per the budget announcement by the Hon'nle Finance Minister on 7th Feb, 2017, 20 Nos of eligible journalists have been selected for the financial year 2017-18 in the line of literary, sports and artists.

Eligibility Criteria for Submission of Application:

1. He /She has attained 60 (sixty) years of age and has retired from the job of a journalist/photo journalist/correspondent/camera person (news).

2. He /She must be domicile of Assam and must have served as a journalist in Assam for most less than 20 years preceding his/her date of retirement.

3. He /She must be a journalist as defined under working journalist Act. Preference will be given to those who were issued Recognition/Accreditation Card by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Govt. of Assam.

4. He /She must not be drawing any pension from any other source except under the Employment Provident Fund.

5. The Proprietor, Proprietor-cum-Editor, Managing-cum-Editor and those whose nature of job is not relating to working journalist will not be eligible for the scheme.

6. The Government Servant shall not eligible for Journalist Pension. One person shall not get more than one pension out of Pensions for Journalist/Literature/Sports pensions.

How to Apply DIPR Assam Pension Scheme for Journalists

Intending candidates will have to submit their application duly filled up in the Prescribed Form (two sets of hard copy) along with all related papers/documents or scanned copies of may be sent to the mail id- jpension2021@gmail.com. if the application is submitted online, hard copies must be submitted later.
